नवरात्रि के सबसे महत्वपूर्ण दिनों — महाअष्टमी और महानवमी — की विशेष पूजा-विधि, जिसमें अष्टमी की अंतिम 24 मिनट और नवमी की प्रथम 24 मिनट के दुर्लभ "संधि काल" की पूजा भी सम्मिलित है, जब देवी चामुण्डा ने महिषासुर के सेनापति चण्ड-मुण्ड का वध किया था।The special worship of Navratri’s two most important days — Mahaashtami and Mahanavami — including the rare "Sandhi" hour spanning the last 24 minutes of Ashtami and the first 24 minutes of Navami, when the goddess Chamunda is said to have slain Mahishasura’s generals Chanda and Munda.
महाअष्टमी को देवी महागौरी और महानवमी को देवी सिद्धिदात्री का विशेष पूजन होता है। दोनों तिथियों के मिलन-बिंदु पर आने वाला 48 मिनट का "संधि काल" अत्यंत शुभ माना जाता है, और इसी समय बंगाल की परम्परा में देवी चामुण्डा की विशेष पूजा की जाती है।Mahaashtami belongs especially to Mahagauri, and Mahanavami to Siddhidatri. The 48-minute "Sandhi" period spanning the meeting of the two dates is held to be exceptionally auspicious, and in the Bengali tradition it is when the goddess Chamunda receives special worship.
॥ विधि — चरण-दर-चरण ॥॥ Method — step by step ॥
महाअष्टमी पूजन प्रातः स्नान कर महागौरी माता का ध्यान करें — “श्वेते वृषे समारूढा श्वेताम्बरधरा शुचिः। महागौरी शुभं दद्यान्महादेवप्रमोददा॥” — विधिवत पूजन कर भोग अर्पित करें।
Bathe at dawn and meditate on Mahagauri — “Shvete vrishe samarudha shvetambaradhara shuchih, Mahagauri shubham dadyan-Mahadeva-pramodada” — then worship her fully and offer bhog.
संधि पूजा का समय स्थानीय पंचांग देखकर अष्टमी तिथि समाप्त होने से 24 मिनट पहले और नवमी तिथि आरम्भ होने के 24 मिनट बाद तक — कुल 48 मिनट — संधि-काल जानें।
Check your local panchang to find the Sandhi period: the 24 minutes before Ashtami ends and the 24 minutes after Navami begins — 48 minutes in total.
संधि पूजन इस अवधि में देवी चामुण्डा का पूजन करें, 108 दीपक अथवा यथाशक्ति दीप जलाएँ और “ॐ चामुण्डायै नमः” का जाप करें।
During this period, worship the goddess Chamunda, light 108 lamps (or as many as you can) and repeat “Om Chamundayai namah.”

महानवमी पूजन नवमी को प्रातः देवी सिद्धिदात्री का ध्यान करें — “सिद्धगन्धर्वयक्षाद्यैरसुरैरमरैरपि। सेव्यमाना सदा भूयात् सिद्धिदा सिद्धिदायिनी॥” — पूजन कर विशेष भोग अर्पित करें।
On Navami morning, meditate on Siddhidatri — “Siddha-gandharva-yakshadyair-asurair-amarair-api, sevyamana sada bhuyat Siddhida siddhidayini” — worship her and offer a special bhog.
आयुध पूजा नवमी को शस्त्र, वाहन, यंत्र-औजार आदि की पूजा की परम्परा है, जिसे कई क्षेत्रों में “आयुध पूजा” कहा जाता है।
On Navami it is traditional to worship one’s tools, vehicles and instruments — called Ayudha Puja in many regions.
