अम्बे तू है जगदम्बे काली, जय दुर्गे खप्पर वाली। तेरे ही गुण गाएँ भारती, ओ मैया हम सब उतारें आरती॥

Ambe tu hai Jagdambe Kali, jai Durge khappar wali. Tere hi gun gayen Bharati, o maiya hum sab utaren aarti.

हे अम्बे, तू ही जगदम्बा और काली है; खप्पर धारण करने वाली दुर्गा की जय। भारती तेरे ही गुण गाती है — हे माँ, हम सब तेरी आरती उतारते हैं।

O Ambe, you are Jagdamba and Kali; hail Durga, bearer of the skull-bowl. Bharati sings only your praises — O Mother, we all offer you the lamp.

तेरे भक्त जनों पर माता, भीड़ पड़ी है भारी। दानव दल पर टूट पड़ो माँ, करके सिंह सवारी। सौ-सौ सिंहों से बलशाली, अष्ट भुजाओं वाली, दुष्टों को पल में संहारती॥

Tere bhakt janon par mata, bheed padi hai bhari. Danav dal par toot pado maa, karke sinh savari. Sau-sau sinho se balshali, asht bhujaon wali, dushton ko pal mein sanharti.

हे माता, तेरे भक्तों पर भारी विपत्ति पड़ी है; सिंह पर सवार होकर दानव-दल पर टूट पड़ो। सौ-सौ सिंहों जितनी बलशाली, आठ भुजाओं वाली — दुष्टों का पल भर में संहार करने वाली।

Mother, a heavy trouble has fallen on your devotees; mount your lion and fall upon the host of demons. Strong as a hundred lions, bearing eight arms — you destroy the wicked in an instant.

अम्बे तू है जगदम्बे काली, जय दुर्गे खप्पर वाली। तेरे ही गुण गाएँ भारती, ओ मैया हम सब उतारें आरती॥

माँ बेटे का है इस जग में, बड़ा ही निर्मल नाता। पूत-कपूत सुने हैं पर ना, माता सुनी कुमाता॥ सब पे करुणा दर्शाने वाली, अमृत बरसाने वाली, दुखियों के दुखड़े निवारती॥

Maa bete ka hai is jag mein, bada hi nirmal nata. Poot kapoot sune hain par na, mata suni kumata. Sab pe karuna darshane wali, amrit barsane wali, dukhiyon ke dukhde nivarti.

इस जगत में माँ और बेटे का नाता सबसे निर्मल है; कुपूत सुने गए हैं, पर कुमाता कोई नहीं सुनी गई। सब पर करुणा दिखाने वाली, अमृत बरसाने वाली — दुखियों के दुख दूर करने वाली।

In this world the bond of mother and child is the purest; unworthy sons are heard of, but never an unworthy mother. She who shows compassion to all, showers nectar, and removes the sorrows of the suffering.

अम्बे तू है जगदम्बे काली, जय दुर्गे खप्पर वाली। तेरे ही गुण गाएँ भारती, ओ मैया हम सब उतारें आरती॥

नहीं माँगते धन और दौलत, न चांदी न सोना माँ। हम तो माँगें माँ तेरे मन में, इक छोटा सा कोना॥ सबकी बिगड़ी बनाने वाली, लाज बचाने वाली, सतियों के सत को संवारती॥

Nahin mangte dhan aur daulat, na chandi na sona maa. Hum to mangen maa tere man mein, ik chhota sa kona. Sabki bigdi banane wali, laaj bachane wali, satiyon ke sat ko sanwarti.

हम धन-दौलत, चाँदी-सोना नहीं माँगते; हम तो बस तेरे मन में एक छोटा-सा कोना माँगते हैं। सबका बिगड़ा काम बनाने वाली, लाज बचाने वाली — सतियों के सतीत्व को संवारने वाली।

We do not ask for wealth or riches, not silver nor gold; we ask only for a small corner in your heart. She who sets right what has gone wrong, who guards honour, and upholds the virtue of the devoted.

अम्बे तू है जगदम्बे काली, जय दुर्गे खप्पर वाली। तेरे ही गुण गाएँ भारती, ओ मैया हम सब उतारें आरती॥

चरण शरण में खड़े तुम्हारी, ले पूजा की थाली। वरद हस्त सर पर रख दो, माँ संकट हरने वाली। माँ भर दो भक्ति रस प्याली, अष्ट भुजाओं वाली, भक्तों के कारज तू ही सारती॥

Charan sharan mein khade tumhari, le puja ki thali. Varad hast sar par rakh do, maa sankat harne wali. Maa bhar do bhakti ras pyali, asht bhujaon wali, bhakton ke karaj tu hi sarti.

पूजा की थाली लिए हम तेरे चरणों की शरण में खड़े हैं; हे संकट हरने वाली माँ, अपना वरद हस्त हमारे सिर पर रख दो। हे आठ भुजाओं वाली माँ, भक्ति-रस की प्याली भर दो — भक्तों के हर कार्य को तू ही पूर्ण करने वाली है।

With the plate of worship in hand, we stand at the refuge of your feet; O Mother who removes affliction, place your blessing hand upon our heads. O Mother of eight arms, fill our cup with the nectar of devotion — you alone bring every devotee’s task to completion.
