गणपति की स्तुति का यह पद उनके जन्म-प्रसंग — भादो शुक्ल चतुर्थी, चंद्रदेव को शाप और ब्रह्मा द्वारा «विघ्नविनाशक» नाम रखे जाने — को क्रम से कहता है। प्रत्येक पद के बाद «गणपति की सेवा मंगल मेवा» की टेक दोहराई जाती है।This hymn to Ganpati tells his birth in order — the fourth day of bright Bhadra, the curse laid on the moon-god, and Brahma’s naming of him “destroyer of obstacles”. The refrain “Ganpati ki seva mangal meva” returns after every verse.

गणपति की सेवा मंगल मेवा, सेवा से सब विघ्न टरैं। तीन लोक के सकल देवता, द्वार खड़े नित अर्ज करैं॥
Ganpati ki seva mangal meva, seva se sab vighn taren. Teen lok ke sakal devta, dvar khade nit arj karen.
गणपति की सेवा मंगलमय मेवा है — उस सेवा से सारे विघ्न टल जाते हैं; तीनों लोकों के सभी देवता उनके द्वार पर खड़े होकर नित्य प्रार्थना करते हैं।
To serve Ganpati is itself the auspicious sweet — by that service every obstacle departs; all the gods of the three worlds stand at his door and daily make their plea.
॥ गणपति की सेवा मंगल मेवा ॥
रिद्धि-सिद्धि दक्षिण वाम विराजें, अरु आनन्द सों चमर करैं। धूप-दीप अरु लिए आरती, भक्त खड़े जयकार करैं॥
Riddhi-Siddhi dakshin vam virajen, aru anand son chamar karen. Dhoop-deep aru liye aarti, bhakt khade jaikar karen.
ऋद्धि और सिद्धि उनके दाएँ-बाएँ विराजती हैं और आनंद से चँवर डुलाती हैं; धूप, दीप और आरती लिए भक्त खड़े जयकार करते हैं।
Riddhi and Siddhi are enthroned at his right and left, joyfully waving the whisk; devotees stand with incense, lamp and aarti, raising the cry of victory.
॥ गणपति की सेवा मंगल मेवा ॥
गुड़ के मोदक भोग लगत हैं, मूषक वाहन चढ्या सरैं। सौम्य रूप को देख गणपति के, विघ्न भाग जा दूर परैं॥
Gud ke modak bhog lagat hain, mushak vahan chadhya saren. Saumya roop ko dekh Ganpati ke, vighn bhag ja door paren.
गुड़ के मोदक का भोग लगता है और वे मूषक-वाहन पर सवार होते हैं; गणपति के सौम्य रूप को देखकर विघ्न भागकर दूर जा पड़ते हैं।
Modaks of jaggery are offered him and he rides upon his mouse; at the sight of Ganpati’s gentle form the obstacles flee far away.
॥ गणपति की सेवा मंगल मेवा ॥
भादो मास अरु शुक्ल चतुर्थी, दिन दोपारा दूर परैं। लियो जन्म गणपति प्रभु जी, दुर्गा मन आनन्द भरैं॥
Bhado mas aru shukla chaturthi, din dopara door paren. Liyo janm Ganpati prabhu ji, Durga man anand bharen.
भाद्रपद मास की शुक्ल चतुर्थी को, दिन के दोपहर के समय — गणपति प्रभु ने जन्म लिया और माता का मन आनंद से भर गया।
On the fourth day of bright Bhadra, at the hour of noon — lord Ganpati was born, and the Mother’s heart was filled with joy.
॥ गणपति की सेवा मंगल मेवा ॥
अद्भुत बाजा बजा इन्द्र का, देव बंधु सब गान करैं। श्री शंकर के आनन्द उपज्या, नाम सुन्यो सब विघ्न टरैं॥
Adbhut baja baja Indra ka, dev bandhu sab gan karen. Shri Shankar ke anand upajya, nam sunyo sab vighn taren.
इन्द्र का अद्भुत बाजा बजा और सब देव-बंधु गान करने लगे; श्री शंकर के हृदय में आनंद उपजा — जिनका नाम सुनते ही सारे विघ्न टल जाते हैं।
Indra’s wondrous music sounded and all the kindred gods began to sing; joy sprang up in Shankar’s heart — at the mere hearing of that name every obstacle departs.
॥ गणपति की सेवा मंगल मेवा ॥
आनि विधाता बैठे आसन, इन्द्र अप्सरा नृत्य करैं। देख वेद ब्रह्मा जी जाको, विघ्न विनाशक नाम धरैं॥
Aani Vidhata baithe asan, Indra apsara nritya karen. Dekh Ved Brahma ji jako, vighn vinashak nam dharen.
विधाता आकर आसन पर बैठे और इन्द्र की अप्सराएँ नृत्य करने लगीं; वेदों को देखकर ब्रह्मा जी ने उनका नाम «विघ्नविनाशक» रखा।
The Creator came and took his seat, and Indra’s apsaras danced; consulting the Vedas, Brahma gave him the name “destroyer of obstacles”.
॥ गणपति की सेवा मंगल मेवा ॥
एकदन्त गजवदन विनायक, त्रिनयन रूप अनूप धरैं। पगथंभा सा उदर पुष्ट है, देव चन्द्रमा हास्य करैं॥
Ekdant gajavadan Vinayak, trinayan roop anoop dharen. Pagthambha sa udar pusht hai, dev Chandrama hasya karen.
एक दाँत वाले, गज-मुख विनायक तीन नेत्रों का अनुपम रूप धारण करते हैं; स्तम्भ-सी टाँगें और पुष्ट उदर देखकर चन्द्रदेव हँस पड़े।
Single-tusked, elephant-faced Vinayak bears a matchless three-eyed form; seeing his pillar-like legs and ample belly, the moon-god laughed.
॥ गणपति की सेवा मंगल मेवा ॥
दे शराप श्री चन्द्रदेव को, कलाहीन तत्काल करैं। चौदह लोक में फिरें गणपति, तीन लोक में राज्य करैं॥
De sharap Shri Chandradev ko, kalaheen tatkal karen. Chaudah lok mein phiren Ganpati, teen lok mein rajya karen.
श्री चन्द्रदेव को शाप देकर उन्हें तत्काल कलाहीन कर दिया; गणपति चौदह लोकों में विचरते हैं और तीनों लोकों पर राज्य करते हैं।
He cursed the moon-god and at once stripped him of his phases; Ganpati roams the fourteen worlds and rules over the three.
॥ गणपति की सेवा मंगल मेवा ॥
उठि प्रभात जप करैं ध्यान, कोई ताके कारज सर्व सरैं। पूजा काल आरती गावैं, ताके शिर यश छत्र फिरैं॥
Uthi prabhat jap karen dhyan, koi take karaj sarv saren. Puja kal aarti gavain, take shir yash chhatra phiren.
जो प्रातः उठकर जप और ध्यान करता है, उसके सारे कार्य सिद्ध हो जाते हैं; जो पूजा के समय आरती गाता है, उसके सिर पर यश का छत्र फिरता है।
Whoever rises at dawn to repeat his name and meditate finds all his works accomplished; whoever sings the aarti at the hour of worship has the canopy of fame turning above his head.
॥ गणपति की सेवा मंगल मेवा ॥
गणपति की पूजा पहले करने से, काम सभी निर्विघ्न सरैं। सभी भक्त गणपति जी के, हाथ जोड़कर स्तुति करैं॥
Ganpati ki puja pahle karne se, kam sabhi nirvighn saren. Sabhi bhakt Ganpati ji ke, hath jodkar stuti karen.
गणपति की पूजा पहले करने से सारे कार्य निर्विघ्न पूर्ण होते हैं; इसीलिए गणपति के सब भक्त हाथ जोड़कर उनकी स्तुति करते हैं।
Because Ganpati is worshipped first, every undertaking is completed without hindrance; and so all his devotees praise him with folded hands.

कब और कैसे करेंWhen and how it is observed
गणेश चतुर्थी के दस दिनों में और बुधवार के पूजन में गाई जाती है। चूँकि इसमें गणपति का जन्म-प्रसंग क्रम से आता है, परंपरा में इसे आरती के साथ-साथ कथा-पाठ की तरह भी सुना जाता है। संकष्टी चतुर्थी के व्रत में भी इसका पाठ प्रचलित है।Sung through the ten days of Ganesh Chaturthi and in Wednesday worship.
