महादेव की चालीसा, जिसका आरम्भ गणेश-वंदना से होता है। इस डेमो में दोहा और प्रथम आठ चौपाइयाँ हैं।The chalisa of Mahadev, which opens with a salutation to Ganesh. This demo carries the doha and first eight chaupai.
॥ दोहा ॥॥ Doha ॥
जय गणेश गिरिजा सुवन, मंगल मूल सुजान। कहत अयोध्यादास तुम, देहु अभय वरदान॥
Jai Ganesh Girija suvan, mangal mool sujan. Kahat Ayodhyadas tum, dehu abhay vardan.
गिरिजा-पुत्र गणेश की जय, जो मंगल के मूल और सुजान हैं; अयोध्यादास कहते हैं — मुझे अभय का वरदान दें।
Hail Ganesh, son of Girija, root of blessing and all-knowing; Ayodhyadas says: grant me the boon of fearlessness.
॥ चौपाई ॥॥ Chaupai ॥
जय गिरिजा पति दीन दयाला। सदा करत सन्तन प्रतिपाला॥
Jai Girija pati deen dayala, sada karat santan pratipala.
गिरिजा के पति, दीनों पर दया करने वाले की जय — जो सदा संतों की रक्षा करते हैं।
Hail lord of Girija, compassionate to the lowly, ever the protector of the holy.
भाल चन्द्रमा सोहत नीके। कानन कुण्डल नागफनी के॥
Bhal chandrama sohat nike, kanan kundal nagphani ke.
माथे पर चन्द्रमा सुंदर शोभित है; कानों में नागफन के कुण्डल हैं।
The moon sits handsomely on your brow; serpent-hoods hang as rings from your ears.
अंग गौर शिर गंग बहाये। मुण्डमाल तन क्षार लगाए॥
Ang gaur shir Gang bahaye, mundmal tan kshar lagaye.
गौर अंग, सिर से गंगा बहती है; गले में मुण्डमाला और शरीर पर भस्म।
Fair of limb, the Ganga flowing from your head; a garland of skulls and ash upon your body.
वस्त्र खाल बाघम्बर सोहे। छवि को देखि नाग मन मोहे॥
Vastra khal baghambar sohe, chhavi ko dekhi nag man mohe.
बाघ की खाल का वस्त्र सुशोभित है; इस छवि को देख नाग भी मोहित होते हैं।
Clad in tiger skin; even the serpents are charmed to see this form.
मैना मातु की हवे दुलारी। बाम अंग सोहत छवि न्यारी॥
Maina matu ki have dulari, bam ang sohat chhavi nyari.
मैना माता की दुलारी (पार्वती) आपके वाम अंग में अनुपम छवि से शोभित हैं।
Mother Maina’s darling daughter (Parvati) graces your left side with matchless beauty.
कर त्रिशूल सोहत छवि भारी। करत सदा शत्रुन क्षयकारी॥
Kar trishul sohat chhavi bhari, karat sada shatrun kshaykari.
हाथ में त्रिशूल की छवि भारी है, जो सदा शत्रुओं का क्षय करता है।
The trident in your hand is a mighty sight, ever destroying enemies.
नन्दि गणेश सोहै तहँ कैसे। सागर मध्य कमल हैं जैसे॥
Nandi Ganesh sohai tahan kaise, sagar madhya kamal hain jaise.
नन्दी और गणेश वहाँ ऐसे शोभित हैं जैसे सागर के मध्य कमल।
Nandi and Ganesh adorn your side like lotuses in the midst of the sea.
कार्तिक श्याम और गणराऊ। या छवि को कहि जात न काऊ॥
Kartik Shyam aur Ganrau, ya chhavi ko kahi jat na kau.
श्याम-वर्ण कार्तिकेय और गणराज — इस छवि का वर्णन कोई नहीं कर सकता।
